Children under 6 and Monroe’s Farm Friends are FREE. We invite you to bring a picnic and spend the day at the home of our nation’s 5th president! \nGuided tours will be available every 20 minutes beginning at 10:20 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Each tour slot can accommodate 16 individuals. DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, November 12\, to honor and thank U.S. veterans\, all active duty\, former\, and retired United States military personnel will receive free admission to James Monroe’s Highland for Veterans Day. We will also offer the following special events: \nVisitors can listen to Colonel Monroe in performances held at 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.\, as he recounts the American Revolution. \nFrom 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.\, a living timeline of veterans will represent soldiers from the Revolutionary War through Operation Desert Storm. Visitors are invited to explore the evolution of the American soldier since Monroe’s day. Two World War II Jeeps will also be on display. \nFor non-military visitors the veterans timeline\, Monroe performance\, and the guided tour are included with admission.
