2019 Home Educator Day at Highland

James Monroe’s Highland will host Home Educator Day on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Home educator families will enjoy an exclusive walk-through of the presidential guest house and exhibit spaces, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., along with additional activities including:
- Meet James Monroe (12:00pm & 1:00pm)
- Writing and Conversation with Elizabeth Monroe (10:30am, 11:30am, & 12:30pm)
- War of 1812 militia demonstrations (10:30am – 3:00pm)
- Historic land surveying (10:00am & 2:00pm)
- Wool processing demonstration (9:00am – 2:30pm)
- Historic cooking and textile production (9:00am – 3:00pm)
- Cross stitch sampler programs (11:00am & 1:00pm, limit 15 per session)
- Historic games and crafts (9:00am – 3:00pm)
- Reading from the Monroe Doctrine (2:00pm)
Home Educator Day at Highland is $5.00 for participants and adult chaperones. Children under 6 and Monroe’s Farm Friends are FREE (Farm Friends do not have to register, simply bring your Farm Friends card on the day of the event). We invite you to bring a picnic and spend the day at the home of our nation’s 5th president!
